Pots Specialist

Our Approach

Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is a disorder where a person experiences symptoms of orthostatic intolerance such as an elevated heart rate with standing or minimal exertion, dizziness or lightheadedness, and/or passing out after sitting or standing for long periods of time. POTs can make it difficult to exercise or exert yourself because it can make you feel woozier or lead to fainting. There is no specific age when someone develops POTs, but it mainly affects women more than men. Some women experience worsening of POTS symptoms right before and during their menstrual periods. POTS often begins after a pregnancy, infection, major surgery, or trauma/concussion. At Arizona Heart 360, we are familiar with assessing this condition and have a holistic treatment program for our patients.

Post Covid Pots

Are you experiencing an elevated or labile HR and/or BP, headaches, lightheadedness, dizziness with standing, and/or night sweats post Covid vaccination or the virus?

You could have hyperadrenergic POTS, this is used to describe POTS associated with elevated levels of the stress hormone norepinephrine.

What does POTS stand for?

  1. Postural: related to the position of your body
  2. Orthostatic: related to standing upright
  3. Tachycardia: increased heart rate, usually > 100 bpm
  4. Syndrome: a group of symptoms that can affect different areas of your body
